New Alfalfa Management Guide Published

The latest edition offers information on the latest strategies for alfalfa establishment, production, and harvest, including how to go from a 3-ton-yield to a 9-ton-yield per acre

Alfalfa Management GuideMADISON, WI, FEBRUARY 17, 2011 – The Alfalfa Management Guide, a comprehensive book detailing alfalfa production, has released a new edition. The original Alfalfa Management Guide was one of the top selling books ever published by the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America, and the Soil Science Society of America.

The 2011 edition offers information on the latest strategies for alfalfa establishment, production, and harvest. Chapters include descriptions on a multitude of subjects relating to growing and harvesting alfalfa. The authors elaborate on everything from field selection and planting to fertilization and irrigation to disease and insect management.
The new guide is full of useful pictures, recommendations to growers and easy-to-read reference charts and graphs.
Although updated, the Alfalfa Management Guide still provides growers with the same necessary information as the previous edition. This book will show a grower how to increase a 3-ton yield per acre to a 9-ton yield per acre without increasing operating cost. It is a must-have for anyone wanting to profit from alfalfa production.
Among the authors of the 2011 Alfalfa Management Guide are well respected agronomists, pathologists and entomologists including Dan Undersander, Dennis Cosgrove, Eileen Cullen, Craig Grau, Mark Renz, all from the University of Wisconsin; Marlin E. Rice, Iowa State University; Craig Sheaffer, University of Minnesota; Glen Shewmaker, University of Idaho; and Mark Sulc, Ohio State University.
