Abstract

Two methods for elimination of aerobic pesticide degradation during characterization of pesticide adsorption-desorption in soil were compared, using 2,4,5-T (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid) as the test compound. Steam sterilization of soil significantly decreased 2,4,5-T adsorption by soil, and degradation of 2,4,5-T became noticeable after three days of desorption. Conducting the adsorption-desorption process under a nitrogen atmosphere resulted in little change in 2,4,5-T adsorption characteristics and negligible degradation even after six days of desorption.
