Comments on Nitrate Reduction in Unsaturated Soil1
- A. Douglas McLaren2
Cyclic oxidation and reduction of nitrite and nitrate in soil are analysed in terms of first- and zero-order microbial kinetic reactions, respectively. A reversible reaction step involving these ions can account for a low, but constant concentration of nitrate in an unsaturated field soil for long periods or for considerable depths in a laboratory soil column. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
