Two-Dimensional Solutes Transfer during Nonsteady Infiltration: Laboratory Test of Mathematical Model1

Abstract

Abstract

The theory of two-dimensional transport of solutes during nonsteady infiltration from trickle sources, as developed previously, was compared with experimental results. A laboratory experiment was conducted under conditions similar to those assumed in the two-dimensional plane flow model. The agreement between theory and experiment as expressed by salt concentration distribution and location of wetting fronts, is generally good. This suggests that the theory is applicable to many situations similar to the conditions studied.
