Nutrient Uptake of Alfalfa as Influenced by Soil Processing and Greenhouse Potting Methods1

  1. G. A. Peterson2

Abstract

Abstract

Uptake of P, K, Ca, Mg, Zn, Cu, Fe, and Mn by alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) was studied as affected by soil processing and potting methods. Aggregate destruction resulted in increased uptake of all nutrients except K and Cu. Air-drying of soils prior to potting decreased the uptake of P. There was no significant interaction or processing and potting methods with soil horizon being studied.
