Abstract

Abstract

A sample of Rifle peat soil was extracted with benzene-methanol (10:1). The yield of extracted material was 1.5% (dry soil weight). This material was fractionated according to solubility in petroleum ether and ethanol. Carbazole was identified in the fraction soluble in both solvents.
