Validity of the Transect Method for Estimating Compositions of Soil-Map Areas1

  1. Everett M. White2

Abstract

Abstract

The large number of transects needed to estimate accurately the quantities of different soils in a soil map area precludes the method from routine use. If map area compositions can not be estimated by landscape relationships, the area probably should be considered a land type or an association.
