Pericarp Thickness of Dent Corn Inbred Lines1
- J. L. Helm and
- M. S. Zuber2
The thickness of excised pericarp strips was determined on 33 corn (Zea mays L.) inbred lines grown near Columbia, Missouri, during the period 1964 to 1967. The pericarps ranged 62 to 160 µ in thickness. The distribution was uniform without evidence of clustering. The rankings of the inbreds were very uniform across years. Thus, when grown under the same basic cultural conditions and production practices, the pericarp thicknesses of the 33 inbred lines in this sample were influenced little by seasonal environments. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
