Quantitative Genetic Estimates for Brown Spot Resistance in Corn1

  1. D. L. Thompson2

Abstract

Abstract

Fifteen populations of corn (Zea mays L.), each with six generations (P1, P2, F1, F2, B1, and B2), were inoculated with Physoderma maydis Miyabe and rated for brown spot symptoms. Parents for each population were a susceptible inbred and an isogenic resistant line. Pooled additive effects were the most important and were significant in all 15 populations. Pooled dominance effects were significant for five populations and epistasis for four populations.
