Monosomic Analysis of Fertility-Restoration in Common Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)1

Abstract

Abstract

Monosomic analysis of the restoration genes in Triticum timopheevi Χ Marquis3, a hexaploid fertility-restorer with T. timopheevi cytoplasm known to possess two major dominant genes Rf1Rf1Rf2Rf2, revealed that chromosome 1A carries one of the major genes. Inconclusive data prevented identification of the other chromosome carrying a major gene. Chromosome 3A was not studied.

Chromosomes 1B, 2A, 3D, 6A, and 6B of ‘Chinese Spring’ appear to carry modifier genes which prevent normal expression of restoration when absent, even though Rf1 and Rf2 genes are present.
