Application of Genetic Male Sterility to Recurrent Selection Schemes in Soybeans1
- C. A. Brim and
- C. W. Stuber2
Recurrent selection schemes for soybeans [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] that use a genetic male-sterile factor to obtain natural crosses are outlined. A basic scheme with three generations per cycle, intermating, advancing, and testing, and modifications of the scheme are discussed. Guidelines for population size and selection intensity are considered. Expected genetic progress is presented for each selection program. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
