A New Factor for Resistance to Common Bunt in Hexaploid Wheats1
- R. J. Metzger and
- B. A. Silbaugh2
A new gene, designated BtlO, conferred resistance to races T-l and T-15 of common bunt (Tilletia caries and T. foetida) in the wheat cross, (Triticum αestivum L.) PI 116306 (resistant)✕ ‘Elgin’ (susceptible) and to races T-l and L-9 in the cross PI 116301 ✕ Elgin. BtlO confers resistance to all races of common bunt found in the Pacific Northwest States with the exception of race X-l. The possibility of a loose linkage between BtlO and the locus for glume color on chromosome IB is discussed. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
