Effects of Male-Sterile-Inducing Cytoplasm in Sorghum Hybrids1
- J. R. Quinby2
Two sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) hybrids with male-sterile-inducing cytoplasm were compared with versions of the same hybrids in normal cytoplasm. Malesterile-inducing cytoplasm caused a 1/2-day delay in flowering and a 3-cm greater plant height. Tillering and width of the largest leaf were not influenced significantly by the different cytoplasms. The two cytoplasms appeared to have no significantly different effect on grain yield. Please view the pdf by using the Full Text (PDF) link under 'View' to the left.
