Abstract

Abstract

Small, portable, row markers that can be transported easily to off-station cereal nursery sites are needed. We designed a marker, consisting of a rotating barrel attached to a 3-point hitch frame. Angle-iron pieces, attached lengthwlse to the barrel sides, mark the rows in the soil as the unit is pulled by a tractor. Chains attached around the barrel mark alleys perpendicularly to the rows. This method has been successfully used in large nurseries and in small, specialized nurseries that are used for plant resistance studies.
