Abstract

Abstract

Forage sample dryers are often needed but may not be available in many outlying stations. The purpose of this paper is to describe a dryer design suitable for modest sized research programs or for use in remote locations. The dryer cabinet is 1.22 m2 × 2.44 m high with controls, blower, and air ducts mounted on the exterior of the cabinet. Design features include limited power surge, adaptability to various drying regimes, and use of readily available materials and limited construction skills. Approximately 175, 0.45 kg forage samples can be dried to constant weight in 72 hours.
