Abstract

Abstract

A rapid method of determining total sulfur in plant materials is described. The plant material is digested in a volumetric flask with nitric and perchloric acid, and the sulfate content of an aliquot of the digest is determined turbidimetrically as BaSO4 by a barium chloride-gelatin procedure. The method is simple and precise, and its results agree closely with those obtained by the Johnson-Nishita method.
