Yield and Concentration of Meadow Hay Fertilized with Three N Sources

  1. C. B. Rumburg2

Abstract

Abstract

Meadow hay from plots fertilized with anhydrous ammonia in the spring prior to or during flooding ranged from .15 to .25% higher in nitrogen concentration than hay from plots fertilized with broadcast applications of ammonium sulfate or urea. Hay yields from plots fertilized with anhydrous ammonia in the spring were similar to yields from plots fertilized with ammonium sulfate or urea except that yields from plots fertilized with anhydrous ammonia were significantly higher in two experiments. Fall applied anhydrous ammonia was similar to fall or spring applied ammonium sulfate.
