Abstract

Abstract

Sugar beets were grown in an arid area under sprinkler irrigation. Populations of 27,000, 108,000, 430,000, and 1,722,000 plants per hectare were obtained with a square grid placement of seed. A mathematical function sucrose yield and plant population density showed the maximum yield at approximately 100,000 plants per hectare.
