Effect of Cutting Height on Alfalfa and Two Grasses as Related to Production, Persistence, and Available Soil Moisture

Height of cut affects the botanical composition, plant height, and the total carbohydrate food reserves of grass swards. Grasses grown with alfalfa were 7.96 to 8.32 percentage units lower in total available carbohydrates than grasses grown in pure stands.
