Synopsis

Yield and P uptake were increased by increasing the water solubility or decreasing the granule size of the fertilizers. There was a water-solubility ✕ granule-size interaction but solubility had little influence on yields with the 40-mesh or smaller materials. The effectiveness of fertilizers having 47% or more solubility tended to be independent of size. The influence of solubility on yield and P uptake was reduced with successive cuttings or by incubating the soil-fertilizer system before cropping.
