Synopsis

Seed production, variable germination requirements, and emergence from depths exceeding expectation make barnyardgrass a serious weed in the irrigated sections of the Northwest. Those factors, combined with the presence of biotypes differing in response to a herbicide (dalapon) partially explain its position among weed species.
