Synopsis

Evapotranspiration by irrigated corn in Alabama increased with plant development to a maximum of 0.30 inch per day at dough stage and afterwards decreased with physiological activity of the plant. The ratio of evapotranspiration by corn to open pan evaporation varied from 0.38 at emergence to 1.12 during early dough stage, then declined to 0.95 at grain maturity.
