Relation of Seed Dormancy of Green Needlegrass (Stipa viridula Trin.) to Age and Treatment1

  1. George A. Rogler22

Synopsis

Synopsis

Seed dormancy of green needlegrass decreased with increasing age of seed. Peak germination was reached at 7 years of age with a gradual decrease for 21 years. Stratifying seed in moist sand for 60 days at 2° to 4° C. resulted in high germination of new seed. Stratified seed was stored for one year without loss in germination.
