Inheritance of a Flower Character, Brown Keel Tip, in Lotus Corniculatus L.1

  1. R. H. Hart and

Synopsis

Synopsis

Segregation in F1, F2, F3, and BC progenies from the cross, brown keel tip ✕ normal, suggested that brown keel tip was conditioned by a single dominant gene, B, inherited tetrasomically. A deficiency of recessive phenotypes was postulated to be due to the operation of alleles, CC, at an independent locus. The interaction of genes from these two loci appeared to be such that the double recessive form, bbbb cccc, was a zygotic lethal.
