Cover Crop Management Community
New Community Announced: Cover Crop Management
In recent years, cover crops have received renewed attention in relation to soil and water conservation, soil fertility and plant nutrition, soil health, and overall crop production. At the Annual Meeting, several ASA Communities and CSSA and SSSA Divisions have held sessions devoted to cover crops. To aid in bringing all of the disciplines together, a Cover Crop Management Community has been formed under the ASA Land Management Section and approved by the ASA Board in December 2013.
Having a Community focused on cover crops will allow for an avenue of involvement across many disciplines and result in both focused and broad-based topical sessions, symposia, and a graduate student competition. For the 2014 Annual Meeting in Long Beach, the Cover Crop Management Community will be cosponsoring a topical session “Cover Crop Effects on Ecosystem Services” with the SSSA Soil and Environmental Quality Division and will be accepting oral and poster presentations for a general session.
