2012 Annual Report
Review of Section Activity
a) Edward Van Santen, Jose Hernandez, and the Statistical Education/Training for Researchers Community sponsored and implemented the “R for Recovering SAS Users Workshop” on Sunday, October 21, 2012.
b) The Biometry and Statistical Computing Section co-sponsored a symposium with the Agronomy Journal Statistics Committee. Thanks to Committee Chair, Barry Glaz, and fellow committee members Jochum Wiersma, Jose Hernandez, Nicolas Martin, and Kathy Yeater for their leadership. The symposium was titled “Statistical Concepts and Tools to Aid in Publishing Proper Research Conclusions” and was held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 7:55-11:50 AM in Millennium Hotel Bronze Ballroom A.
c) The Biometry and Statistical Computing Section sponsored a poster session titled “General Biometry and Statistical Computing: II” that was held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 PM.
d) A new society publication that was printed by ASA-CSSA-SSSA is available. It is titled “Analysis of Generalized Linear Mixed Models fin the Agricultural and Natural Resources Sciences.” This book is a follow-up to the 2010 symposium on Generalized Linear Mixed Models presented in Long Beach, CA. Community Leaders would like Board to consider further how co-sponsored symposia/oral sessions/poster sessions can be credited (financially) to Communities that are not the primary submitters of the session.
